in #current4 years ago (edited)

General Santos City - the Tuna Capital of the Philippines and the Business Central of SOCSKSARGEN first declared it's ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine) last April 2020 followed by clustering among its 26 Barangays. Borders were implemented to lessen the foot traffic among neighboring clusters as strict compliance to prohibit the spread of the virus. The said move of the Local Government Unit provided safety among the Generals listing 1 to 2 cases only during the course of the total lockdown. June 2020, as the National Government issued a statement with the list of cities that were granted to function under GCQ (General Community Quarantine), GenSan is included among urban complex mentioned. Maintaining the guidelines and protocols to observe safety amidst the pandemic. It's citizens were obliged to strictly heed the following:

-Face masks must be worn at all times in public areas. Failure to do so, violator will pay 3,000 pesos as penalty for not abiding.
-Tricycles and other PUV (Public Utility Vehicles) must limit their number of passengers to observe social distancing. A 3,000 pesos fine is served for violators as well.
-Malls and establishments must consider log books for walk in customers for the purpose of contact tracing in case needed in the future. Guards need to check the temperatures as well and put alcohol before entering the premises.
-Social distancing must be followed in queues.

As the National Government allowed flights coming in and out of the city, new cases were recorded that slowly increased in number. Sadly today, there are at least 5 new cases in just one day. Mishaps among local politicians, mishandling of LSI (Locally Stranded Individual) were few of the factors that brought up its drastic rise. Hospitals within the municipality declared that there are no more available rooms for COVID patients. To address the current issue, clustering is again implemented to lessen the movement of the people. Face shields were advised to be worn at all times for further safety. and Sunday total lockdown is enacted, banning all businesses from opening. By far, citizens of the said city were doing a great job abiding to the protocols for everyone's safety.
