Current is an incentivised, blockchain enabled streaming ecosystem that lets you choose how to stream and pay for your media. You can play videos, songs, and playlists from Spotify, Soundcloud, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Apple Music, 8Tracks, Internet Radio, all in one app. You also have a simpler search where you can swipe between networks. Managing your your attention just got easier, you can now follow once, so that all the updates from every network shows up in one place.

The platform will leverage a protocol like IPFS or Storj as a directory for data storage and Ethereum smart contracts as the distribution logic. It will use the blockchain to record user contributions, and reward for time, attention and consumption. Decentralisation, and transparancy will become the backbone of content, payments, goods and services. Current will stay current, by adding new partners and integrations (e.g. Steemit?). Revenue will go to integrated partners, with the intention of using premium services so that the whole network and broad industry benefits together. Instead of taking a larger piece of the pie, one can make a bigger pie to share with all.

Using media metadata like song name, artist, genre, social media likes etc a profile can be built up based on the media you play and similar recommendations and profiles of other users. Over time and with the addition of profile information from third party integrations, the preference profile can become more robust than a similar model built on any single external network. As new types of media are added to Current and users interact with more types of content, the preference profile will be in a unique position to identify commonalities between different types of media, such as, podcasts to videos, audiobooks and articles etc.
