Current Aceh Condition

The condition of Aceh today is the same as the era of the rise of GAM in 1976. Where the people began to realize that the vow of Lamteh (tipped) failed. People began to disbelieve the Aceh Center and leaders at that time. In the end the armed resistance was born.

Today, believe it or not, that history will (soon) recur.

When GAM is born, DI / TI fighters receive a traitorous stamp. Even if the title of traitor out of the child's mouth (GAM) to their parents or relatives who have been involved in DI / IT.

In the next few years, this story will also be repeated. Not pessimistic, but this is the reality we must accept. Aceh's political development is on the way.

There is a moral responsibility as the Acehnese to prevent this from happening again. Armed conflicts will only result in a new bloodbath in Aceh. There will be many deaths of innocent people, orphans and widows of conflict. Many Acehnese children will be put to school. The tragedy of the conflict period is repeated.

Again, this condition can actually be prevented. Unfortunately, our union has collapsed.

The unity of Aceh has collapsed after 2005. The fighters are now fragmented in small groups. This is also causing public confidence to the fighters began to decline. Or maybe it is now threatened to disappear.

Differences of political parties make communication disconnected. There are ideas of unity as well as the salvation of the peace ultimately fails because of clogged communications due to political party differences.

I am sure there are many people in Aceh who think of this same thing. The fate of the Helsinki MoU is almost the same as Lamteh's pledge, but there is still little hope that the conflict cycle will no longer be repeated in Aceh.

Hope will only happen if Aceh reunited. But this idea musthappen to come true. Why? Because sentiment and political party differences are greater than the realization that Aceh's unity is more important.

I am sure, there are many people out there, probably including you, who long for the unity of Aceh. Both ordinary people, students, ex-combatants, to other communities of various professions, age and status. But the ideas and dreams for this united Aceh (Aceh Meusaboh-red) are still in our heads. Even some of us, think this hope must be born. Impossible and will not be realized. Again, there are many differences that make us fail to unite. One of them is political party differences or political support.

Therefore, I would like to invite friends who have the same mind (Aceh Meusaboh-red) to gather. Regardless of status and profession, as well as political parties, let's get together. This is a form of our moral responsibility towards posterity in the future. Our responsibility is not to inherit conflict for them.

We gather outside party barriers. No matter we are different professions, status, and age, but we have the same goals. The objective is to collect the Jakarta pledge to realize the point of the Helsinki MoU. The more the same minded it will be a great bargaining as well.
