Curious about Jesus: Because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever. 2 John 1:2
Without the truth we cannot walk in life, when we walk in the truth we are precise and accurate. And the truth as Jesus explains in the gospels is united with the spiritual light, the wisdom, the knowledge of the correct means to live: "But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light" John 3:21.
As the evangelist John explains to all christians, to know the truth is also to know Jesus: "Whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth—because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever" 2 John 1:2.
And all the wisdom and the truth of God, are summarized in a very important spiritual teaching, the new commandment, which is not a commandment but a metaphor, because no one can be forced to love what is immaterial, perfect, and eternal: "I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another" 2 John 1:5.
The love that John describes to us is the expansive, edifying, progressive, constant, and benevolent love that is why it radiates to our neighbor, it radiates to those who need our help. The meaning of following Jesus is to reach that grace that makes us similar to God: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48.
If we deny all this we become like Pontius Pilate who confronts the testimony of Lord Jesus: "Jesus answered, ´You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.´ ´What is truth?´ retorted Pilate" John 18:37-38.
Being curious about Jesus means to understand that the truth often puts us in a difficult situation, and more so when the truth puts someone's life at stake, as happened to Jesus, if we accept the path that Jesus proposes, we enter a path that is very difficult at first but end blesses us.
