Steemit Update [ March 13th, 2023 ] : Community Curators for April - Applications Open

in #curatorslast year (edited)

We hope you are all enjoying another month of the Community Curators.

Team Millionaire and Team Newcomer have been working well. We will therefore be continuing with both of these in April.

If you would like to have a chance of being selected for a Community Curation team for next month now is the time to make your application.

The Community Curators for April

For April we are again inviting individuals to apply if they would like to be Community Curators.

From the individual applications we will select seven teams.

For the coming month we are going to experiment with smaller teams - probably of 4 or 5 people per team. This means competition will be tougher to be selected as a Community Curator, but the rewards will be higher.

Please do not apply if you only want to be in a team of seven.

We have observed that a number of Community Curators seem to find it difficult to look beyond their own communities when casting their votes, and especially when selecting their Posts of the Week.

Finding people who are willing and able to seek out posts across different languages and different communities will become increasingly important in selecting Community Curators.

Again there will be no specific themes allocated for each team - except Team Millionaire who will be supporting contests and Team Newcomer who will be supporting people in their first three months.

All other teams will be free to vote on posts on any subject.

We also want teams to look beyond communities. There are many good posts that are outside of any communities - just directly on people’s personal blogs.

Teams should seek these out.

The Curation Teams in April should again allocate a portion of their voting power for voting on the best comments.

High quality relevant comments add extra richness to the Steem blogging ecosystem.

Good comments can be as interesting and as valuable as good posts.

We want good comments to be encouraged and rewarded.

How to Apply as a Community Curator

If you would like to be considered as a Community Curator you should make a post including…

  • A brief summary of your history on Steem.

  • Details of any positions of responsibility you have held on Steem.

  • Details of specialist or professional skills or expertise you have in ‘real life’.

  • What country you live in and what languages you can read fluently.

  • Your key stats - own SP, CSI, Reputation, Delegations.

  • Any subjects you particularly enjoy curating.

To apply to become a Community Curator you must have a reputation of at least 70 and you must have at least 7000 SP of your own (not delegated to you).

Previously selected Community Curators are welcome to apply again for April.

Please indicate in your application if you would be willing to be on Team Newcomer.

Keep posts brief and easy to follow. Include the tag #curatorapplication in the first four tags.

Applications can be made in any language.

Posts should be submitted by 11.59pm UTC, on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023.

How Community Curators will be rewarded

Every day all teams will be allowed to allocate one full vote to a member’s post - ideally in rotation. If a team has less than seven members, members can potentially receive more than one vote per week.

In total no more than 10% of the account’s voting power should be used on team members each week.

Additionally each week one member should post a report for the team in the Steem POD community with a list of their top 7 posts, with a brief note of why each post was chosen.

These posts should set beneficiaries to share the rewards with other members of the team.

The posts will be voted by @steemcurator01.

Thank you to this month’s Community Curators. You are all welcome to apply again for April.

The selections for the Curation Teams will be announced by the end of the month, with a view to starting at the beginning of April.

All Community Curators now have the added challenge of looking out for posts with AI generated content from ChatGPT or other similar sites. If you are applying to be a Curator for April make sure you are familiar with the tools available for detecting this sort of content which we consider to be another form of plagiarism.

Finally we would like to remind everyone that they should not contact the Community Curators asking for votes, or to be selected as a Post of the Week. Anyone found doing this may be barred from receiving any @steemcurator0x or @booming votes.

We hope to fetch out all those using such tools soonest so as to clean the community from every unwanted articles. My application will be coming shortly. I wish all applicants success for the month of April as we #steem-on

Totally agree with the process and that was needed, I respect the changes made by the steemit team.

The requirement that applicants must be familiar with AI detectors is welcome. It will generate quality posts on our Steemit site.

This is awesome.
Steemit is increasing everyday and this implies more work and more hands needed.

Thank you very much for this update. A great decision is taken on very good time. This is very good that content will be checked through different tools. And the team will also be reduced from 7 to 4, 5. We are hear to warm welcome all the rules and regulations of @steemitblog. In future, we will give our best . Thanks.

I can see a couple of changes that will change voting patterns to a great extent. In fact, smaller teams can work more effectively and with better coordination. I would love to see how the changes work to support new members and how far they go to help them.

Thank you so much for this update dear @steemitblog. I will surely apply very soon.
