I like the idea of manual curation although it is time consuming. I did consider the auto vote but I never had the time to actually do it. I would have at least ten people on it.
Once a day, usually in the night, I try to read as much as I can from my feed. I attended once the PYPT hosted by @shadowspub and it was quite fun.
As for making friends or simply connecting on Discord, you are absolutely right! Each time I logged in I met at least one or two amazing people. I wish I had more time for it!

It's so time consuming. And sometimes it's also energetically consuming, reading so many posts and engaging at that level. Sometimes all I want to do is be silly on Discord, or get outside (which I'll be doing after this!) But I love that there's so many ways to connect with people in the Steemit sea.
