Explanation of Guidelines

  • Featured posts must come from verified and engaged Filipino authors that create exceptional content.

Verified and engaged Filipino authors are those that took time sharing a piece of themselves in the platform genuinely. This can mean they shared proofs that they are real people and not dummy accounts by linking their steemit profile to other social media platforms.

Engagement refers to all the author’s activities to connect with the community. How often they interact with other authors through commenting back, promoting fellow creators, and initiatives to make the platform a better place. Someone that just replies to people that comment on their posts or none at all are less likely to be labeled engaged.

While judging something exceptional is a subjective thing, it is relatively easy to gauge the quality of the post is based on what lengths the author has spent to make their content appealing to their intended audience. How consistent do they post sensible, relatable, and aesthetically appealing posts?

It’s easy to appreciated a well formatted post upfront compared to a wall of text blog post with slapped in pictures. If an author shows basic knowledge of HTML or markdown language to provide more appeal to their post, then that is a good indicator that they are serious and passionate about their content in the platform.

  • Post age should be less than 3 days old with pending payout of less than $10

We feature 5 posts daily and there are a lot of posts to sift through each day. It is understandable that not every quality content can be accommodated. Adding more slots to the featured posts would be counter productive because people are less likely to view everything on the list. Being online lessens one’s average attention span.

Not more than 3 days old so as to minimized missed quality content. The post prior to being featured must not exceed more than $10. The $10 limit will favor authors that produce quality content and are not well rewarded. As much as possible, its best for this initiative to focus on poorly rewarded and recognized Filipino authors in the platform.

  • Original content and exceptional.

No need for further reasons why this was here.

  • No blogs centered around religious, political and cryptocurrency related themes.

It’s fine if you content mentions those themes above but to center your article’s focus on those themes more than half the time makes it less likely to be featured. We try to remain neutral on our stand as a community.

  • Emphasis is on Flipino authors and Half Filipino authors.

There’s just too little voting power to go around and support the international community for this initiative. We want to keep it simple, specific, and achievable. We want to focus on our local community that still has yet to grow big in the platform.

  • A cooldown of 2 weeks for the author previously featured to be eligible again.

To maximize exposure of authors worth noticing in the platform.

  • None of the guidelines here are absolute.

There are guidelines and not rigid rules for selecting posts featured. Perhaps the most rigid guideline would be the author required has to be a Filipino and the content is exceptional. It would be shame to deprive an author due recognition of their work just because they fell short on one criteria.

If that Filipino content creator has made an exceptional and original post, why not? The whole initiative was to promote them anyway. But this depends on a case to case basis.

Background of the Guidelines Used:

It’s obvious that these guidelines were based on Curie Community Standards for good reasons. The @bestofph curation team were individuals familiar with how Curie operates and what it does for the Steemit Community.

You can learn more about Curie here (http://curiesteem.com).

Reasons for Adaptation:

We based our guidelines from Curie because it’s proven effective and noble. Most if not all curation initiatives have one thing in common and that is to promote quality content creators in the platform. How Curie operates is just something the we are more familiar with compared to other communities that have the same initiative.

We’re not trying to be Curie 2.0 or reinvent how curation practices should be done. We just want to feature Filipino content creators in the platform that produce exceptional content.
