Need to tone down my curation a little bit
Hey everyone!
As you know I am a very active curator and love to read posts on the daily and reward them accordingly. With the new influx of new users and increased activity lately its been harder and harder to keep my voting power efficient.
For those who are not aware of it, you can check your voting power at steemd.com/@yourusername.It takes a full 5 days to regain your full voting power if you have gone on a voting spree and put it down to 0%. One 100% vote uses 0.5% of your voting power which means that after 200 full votes you will reach 0% and your votes won't have any influence on posting rewards or curation rewards.
For those who some times ask me in steemit.chat why I only voted with a 30% vote on their post instead of 100% this is basically the reason - I want to be able to vote and support as many authors as possible, but if I were to vote 100% on each of you my voting power would quickly disappear.
That is not the only reason though since of course some posts deserve more rewards than others and a lot of times I also vote my own posts with a smaller % as to not affect my voting power too much.
Anyway, just wanted to make a quick post about this to clarify to new users why I don't vote with a 100% weight.
I am currently at 70% voting power efficiency and will be voting with a smaller % over the next few days to let it rise some more.
I have the same problem, I like to vote for all people who I am following and a few new people but it is becoming to much, thank you for posting
First World problems.
Haha, so true.
Nice! I learned something today! Good to know!
I keep an eye on mine then when its going to far the wrong way I back off but miss so many good posts that deserve it but pointless voting when you can't give them anything
Thank you for posting @acidyo.
We enjoy your good will, frankness, and enthusiasm here at Steemit.....it is quite inspiring.
Appreciate this educational post.......hopefully this will bring understanding to the many newcomers who can take such things personally.
All the best to you. Cheers.
Yeah, it seems like when money is involved many tend to take it personally much easier. Kind of sad that the amount of "why only 30%?" sometimes outweighs the "thanks for voting" comments, but with more information I hope it will become clearer for many new users.
Hope voting power and other stuff that isn't visible here will make it to the UI soon enough!
I feel you. My voting power is constantly below 70% - too many things to click on :)
Yeah haha it's been crazy lately with all the activity! Imagine what it will be like when we have 1 million users!
I dunno. Something will have to change in the feed. Just don't see how this would work, right?
Well we should have communities very soon. That will likely mean a very different looking feed.
Well, with more users and increased Steem price your lower votes will still have the same effect as the higher ones used to have. Hope it will increase proportionately so everyone gets rewarded more fairly. :)
i have the same issue.. i like voting too much lol i can't remember the last time my power was above 50%.. i've been thinking on holding back on voting until it can build back up but i like upvoting too much lol
Haha upvote-addicts we are! :D
I remember back when there was no vote scaling and you had to vote 100% on each post.. I was always under 50% voting power back then. :D
SIgh. I'm a new user and I've been on a voting spree. I still don't understand all of this!
Hehe, it will come to you over time! A lot of people are also creating some really nice "starting kits" for how a lot of stuff works. Check my latest re-steem! :)
Completely understandable when you curate a lot. My voting power was talking a beating recently because of the increase in posts again, I had to calm it slightly.
I am glad you mentioned the 0.5% thing. I never knew that but knew you could vote forty times a day. Now it all makes sense if you regenerate 20% a day hence the forty votes. Thanks for clearing that up!!
It really seems a great idea,
Can minnows also vote with smaller voting power? or is it always 100% each time they vote ?
I think the limit was at 500 SP last I checked to be able to scale your votes.
oh, okay .... and where to check that by the way ?
Your steempower? Its in your wallet! and the voting power you can check here:
https://steemd.com/@aashishkandel.
You are currently at 94% voting power!
Ah... I mean where to check the limit to be able to scale the votes
wow! that was exactly what I needed to know,
thank you @unmean-stweets
