The Canterbury Tales in 100 Words Part Four

Here are four other Canterbury stories were written by Geoffrey Chaucer, each written in 100 words exactly. Although this format omits many details, the idea is to give the essence of the story and perhaps encourage you to find a longer version.

The prologue and the first eleven stories were covered in the first part; Second and third part, this publication covers stories 12 to 15.

The history of Franklin

Lady Dorigen fears that her husband Arviragus will be destroyed on the rocks of Brittany when he returns from his fight in Britain. Aurelio claims it when he manages to make the rocks disappear, and she accepts it in jest. He offers to pay a wizard to cause an exceptionally high tide that covers all the rocks he makes. Arviragus returns securely, Dorigen admits what he has acknowledged and Arviragus says he should do what he guaranteed. Aurelio perceives how bothered Dorigen is and liberates her from his security. The conjurer likewise liberates Dorigen of his obligations.

The specialist's story

Virginia is the excellent Virginius young lady. Apius, a degenerate judge, gripes about her and influences Claudio to document a claim against Virginius, who affirms that Virginia is, truth be told, a worker who has gotten away from her. Celery finds favor in Claudius, but instead of rejecting Virginia, he tells her that death is better than shame and that he must kill her, a fate she accepts. Virginius takes the head of Apius, who approaches that Virginius be hanged for the kill, yet individuals ascend against Apius, who is detained and submits suicide. Virginius exiled Claudius.

excuse

When a friend dies of plague, three young men promise to find him and kill him. An old man tells them where death is, but instead, they find a pile of gold. Two of them send a third party to get food and wine while they have the treasure. However, both plan to kill the third so they can share the gold. Meanwhile, the third man brings poison to his wine so he can claim all the gold himself. When he returns, they kill him and the other two drink the wine to celebrate.

The history of Shipman

John, a priest, frequently visits a vendor and his significant other. The lady gripes to Jean that her better half is awful and requests a credit of one hundred francs. John goes to her husband and asks for a loan of one hundred francs, which he receives. When the monk gives the woman money, he receives a night full of passion for his reward. When the merchant buys the loan, the monk says that he already paid the woman. She tells her husband that she considers it a gift, but pays him to bed.
