Culturevulture. Ancient burial places of the Slavs, unique monuments of ancient times.

Today, as part of the contest #culturevulture and I want to tell you about a unique historic graves, which are located in my village. These burials date from the 10th century. We call them mound or hill. It's earthy hills, reaching a height of from 3 to 10 meters. The higher the mound, the higher the rank occupied by the person who is buried there.

My village is one of the oldest places of the Russian land, she was more than a thousand years. In the center of the bridge across the river , there are these legendary hills - funeral constructions of the Slavs.These man-made hills n it was very difficult, they have long been regarded as objects of veneration and worship. Over 200 of these mounds of different heights located in the district of my village.
In the woods is the largest mound, with a length of 156 metres . In 9 - 10 centuries of Slavic settlement in the area of my village was the center of a neighborhood by the river. Here was the residence of the local Slavic princes and their retinues, were brought here tribute from subject territories, there ustraivali tribal fees. But some time later the place fell into disrepair. This happened after Princess Olga of Kiev came here and wanted to establish his authority. Battle erupted, and the population greatly reduced. In the 13-14 centuries in the village collapsed to the same epidemic. A prosperous land turned into a small estate. These grave hills are still of great historical value. Archaeologists believe that these graves Slavs, as in the pyramids of Egypt, buried great treasures. After all, the Slavs also it was customary to bury the princes and all its riches. It's gold, ancient weapons, pearl, precious stones. Well, we can only guess that hide ancient land. Excavations here forbidden, is a historical object, so we can only fantasize about these resources. Tourists come here often from Russia and from other countries.
Now we have the famous Museum - the exposition under the open sky Slavic village of the tenth century. This Museum reproduces life, home and the everyday life of the Slavs of the 10th century. About this Museum I will tell you later in a separate post.
