The reminiscence of my childhood days while playing a Filipino Traditional Game 'Taguan' (Hide and Seek)

The time comes so fast, even the way how people live had drastically changed, everything isn't the same as the old ways, from the life style, fashion and etc. The trends are proportionally changing according with the time, and the technology has a greatest influence in it. The traditional ways of living had been almost forgotten, such as the traditional Filipino game, where every child are going outside to play an outdoor games with their childhood friend.

I can still remember my childhood days, the time where me and my friends are playing taguan (Filipino version of hide and seek), the 'it' (seeker) needs to cover his face and sing the song of taguan, then count from 1 to 10, while all of the players are trying to hide theirselves, the seeker needs to find all of those players and prevent them from reaching the base to save them-selves, the 'it' need to do his best in order for him to be replaced from being the 'it' for the next round.

Taguan is one of my favorite, since I have a great talent in hiding, even from hiding my feeling, l am just kidding, lol. I can run faster than my playmates, so I can easily save myself from being the 'it'.

Our taguan is not an ordinary game, since it was really difficult, when you become the 'it', because we are hiding around a 500 or more meters of land, it isn't that easy to find all of those players in that huge area with so many sheltered things, where anyone can hide around it.

I am sure that you will have a hard time from seeking those players, and you will spend almost a 30 minutes to finished a 1 round of it. That's why we made it totally different, since the level of difficulty is too high, we divided all the players into a different teams, each team is consist of 2 members, while the base is also 2. It was really hard to become the 'it' in this version, because there are 2 bases, where every players can reach to save themselves, the other 'it' will try to depend the 2 bases to prevent other players from saving their-selves, while the other 'it' will go for seeking those players around the entire area, but when 1 of the member of each team has been touched by the 'it', their entire team will going to be the 'it' in the next round.

This kind of game is so simple and so ordinary, but the good thing is, there are no gadgets or materials needed, but the joy and fun it can bring is so different and incomparable. The experiences and accomplishments from loosing or winning each game, while engaging with our childhood friends, will never perish, and it is treasured in our minds and in our hearts forever.
