Gapsa with my mom 3 갑사 어머니와 함께 3

Gapsa is beautiful. The reason of beauty is its long history. It's because the trace of time has come down on the long history. Many lives had gone with this Temple during 1700 years. Therefore I looked over the traces of time and lives in detail in every corner of this temple.
갑사는 아름답다. 갑사가 아름다운 것은 오랜 역사 때문이다. 그 오랜 역사 속에서 시간의 흔적이 내려 앉아 있기 때문이다. 1700년 동안 많은 삶들이 이 절과 함께 했을 것이다. 그래서 갑사의 구석 구석에 남아 있는 삶의 흔적과 시간의 흐름을 살펴 보았다

At first the chimney came in my eye. It is not easy to see this kinds of traditional one now days.
먼저 눈에 뜨인 것은 절의 한구석에 있는 굴뚝이었다. 아주 오래된 재래식 굴뚝은 연통은 이제 보기도 어렵다.

Under the wall there are white azaleas. It was reported that white azaleas were extincted, but they found a bunch of white azaleas with luck. Even though Azalea and Royal azalea are same azalea, but they are totally different.
담벽 바로 옆에 하얀색 진달래가 있었다. 1970년대에 멸종된 줄 알았는데 갑사에서 겨우 몇그루 찾았다고 한다. 진달래와 철쭉은 전혀 다르다. 영어로는 이름이 비슷해서 착각하기 쉽다.

People live in the temple. So there is Jangdokdae which is for seasoning. Soy sauce and Doenjang ( similar to miso) are the gift of time. It is rare to have a Jangdokdae even in korea. Whenever looking Jangdokdae, it reminds me of my mom.
절에도 사람이 산다. 그래서 음식을 준비하기 위해 만든 장독대가 있었다. 간장과 된장은 햇볕과 시간이 만들어주는 선물이다. 한국에서도 요즘은 집에 장독대가 있는 집은 별로 없다. 난 장독대를 보면 어머니 생각이 난다.

The temple is place for enlightenment. This is the place to go further endlessly to get enlightenment. Buddhism is to find own mind with a sincere eager. In fact the beautiful Dae Ung Jeon is not the core of temple. This place is real appearance of Gapsa. The spirit of Gapsa which have been continued for 1700 years seemed to start here.

절은 공부하는 곳이다. 깨달음을 위한 끊임없는 정진을 하는 곳이다. 백척간두 진일보의 간절한 마음으로 내 마음을 알아가는 것이 불교다. 그 처절한 수행의 현장이 바로 이곳이다. 사실 화려한 대웅전이 절의 본 모습이 아니다. 목숨을 건 수행이 이루어지는 바로 이곳이 갑사의 진면목이리라. 1700년동안 이어진 갑사의 정신은 바로 이곳에서 비롯되었으리라.

Life is great. I took a photo it is a little bit bigger than others

삶은 어디서나 거룩하다. 보통의 제비꽃보다 조금 커서 사진에 담았다.
At first glance, it looked like a bird dropping. But it was not, it was a moth. Maybe camouflaged. It was interesting.

It is not a bird dropping, but a white moth.
조그만 이파리에 하얀 것이 있어서 무심코 새똥인지 알았다. 자세히 보니 새똥이 아니다. 나방이었다. 아마도 위장을 한 것 같았다. 신기했다.

I have posted on Gapsa 3 times. If it is possible, I want to visit again Autumn and Winter.

갑사의 모습을 3번에 나누어 담았다. 시간이 되면 가을이나 겨울에 한번 들르고 싶지만 여건이 허락할지 모르겠다.
