Japanese beach culture is divided into two camps. Surfing beaches tend to be party spots for young people. A decent surf-free beach is a family oriented spot.

Both types of beaches have an interesting culture. The family appears with an incredible amount of instruments. Surfing beaches are associated with a unique lifestyle and fashion. Tattoos are relatively rare in Japan, and in Japan's famous surfing beach like Shonan it is often that everyone is tattoosing
