Racial and social discrimination is one of the evils that humanity does not seem to get rid of, it has even turned to it in the old robe of xenophobia, as we warn almost daily in several countries.
Certain societies, groups or individuals claim not to be discriminatory, but in their sometimes subtle behaviors they reveal that attitude, as your story illustrates.
I believe that, unfortunately, we are far from overcoming this social burden.
