RE: The Righteous Ghisang(Geisha) Nongae and her death for love

in #culture7 years ago

Your righteous Ghisang, Nongae, reminds me of a Biblical woman who used her beauty and charms to help her people.

Esther, in the Bible, was the Queen of Persia. She concealed herJewish identity from the King, but when he turned on the Jewish people and wanted to destroy them, Esther used her charms to save them.

In a similar way, Nongae used her charms to seduce and murder the Japanese general and avenge her husband's murder and the defeat of the Korean army.

There are strong women figures in Korean history and culture, and once again we see a Geisha who is driven by love to memorialize her lover's memory. Such a heroic act!

The photos of Nongae's monument are beautiful, @slowwalker, as was your telling of the story.

Good work, my friend.
