RE: Kangwhado island and King Cheoljong

in #culture7 years ago

a sad story today, @slowwalker. Boy kings never fare very well, whether in ancient Egypt or Korea.

I can imagine the boy's loneliness and it seemed he died at a very young age, as you suggest, from loneliness and a broken heart.

Your mother has a very tender, compassionate spirit, my friend. She can walk the grounds of his former residence and see how hard his life must have been. Not all kings are rich and powerful.

He died childless, friendless and unmarried, leaving behind only a memorial stone.

It's interesting that he was thought a commoner before he was called to be king. Perhaps there was a family rift or jealousy that resulted in his being exiled so far from his family, and then, when he made friends, he had to be uprooted again to serve the people.

Lovely photographs today, @slowwalker. A sad, but beautiful post.
