Our School Celebrates National Arts Month this February
Who says that month of February is only for lovers?
National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCAA) proclaimed February as the "National Arts Month".
To support this our school Dr. V. Orestes Educational Foundation (DVOREF) here in Tacloban City celebrated by representing the different arts of every region in the Philippines.
Senior High School Grade 11 students are very talented for they successfully showcased the richness of Philippine Arts.
Each section had their own way of re-orienting us into the soul of Filipino culture.
Folkdance

The students used the poem "Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa" written by one of our earliest hero Andres Bonifacio.
The picture below is a presentation of how technology affected the children of today. They showed us how very different was the form of enjoyment in the past compared today. In the present, children use cellphone or tablet as a form of entertainment instead of going outside the house and meet their playmates.
Also as an audience, all my childhood memories flashed back to me, I realized that I'm lucky because I had very meaningful childhood experiences.
Fashion style of Americans and Filipinos
I believe the students here showed how we Filipinos are influenced by Americans when it comes to the way we dress. This influence is very evident up to this time.
Theater Play
The play was about the "Balangiga Massacre" an incident happened in the town of Balangiga, Eastern Samar which the Guerillas attacked the members of the U.S Army. This is controversial because until now the people of Balangiga and our very own president still demand to bring back the "Balangiga bells" which the American survivors took as a war trophy.
They also had ARTS DISPLAY
As the program ended, I can't helped but to be proud for being a Filipino. We have a great and colorful history that is worth passing to the next generation.

It's here in the philippines specifically in the city of Tacloban in Leyte which greatly damaged by typhoon Haiyan in 2013.
