who are these Igbo native doctors?

Igbo native doctors are grouped in two major groups known as herbal doctors and spiritual/native doctors.

Today, we’ll cover much on the herbal doctors in Igbo land.

Igbo people are known for their strong faith in natural and natural forces, thus, they are highly spiritual and highly natural. The physical doctors are the herbalist as you know, they believe in bringing together natural seeds, fruits, leaves 🍁 and roots for human medication.

While the spiritual types believe in incantations, invoking spiritual powers to heal the sick miraculously.

Both has proved themselves to be true over ages in Igbo land.

In Igbo land, the herbal doctors are believed that they speak to herbs and in return receive the reciprocates from the herbs which made our forefathers to live a better and fulfilled life more than us today.

These men believe in 100% herbal treatment, and it works perfectly for the tribe which they prefer to scientific medicines. They gave their reasons which includes that such practices is a gift to them from creation which is passed from generation to generation.

They also prefer herbal medication due to they are free of side effects,

Enmity between some religious beliefs and traditions in Igbo land

Before the invasion of Europe to Africa, blacks especially the Igbo people believed in spirits and gods, and they also believed in ‘God almighty creator’ (chiukwu okike)

And they were living peaceful in their belief until the introduction of various religions, these religions and western education made them to believe that their way of life and their medications are ill and obsolete, these new religions made them believe that going to receive healing from spiritual doctors as well as receiving from herbal doctors are sin against God and their doctrines.

These controversies brought the decline of Igbo native doctors for many years until recently when most of the Igbo people has developed a free thinking mind to understand that their way of life remains the best for them.
