Bobot, Bibit, Bebed (One aspect the way choose a partner of life in Javanese Culture)

In Javanese culture when we choose our partner of life (choose of our mate), there is a guidance as we usually call such as :

• Bobot
  It is meant, when there are many criteria when we choose a mate such as self quality or good in physically and mentality, well educated, and have a good attitude.


• Bibit
  A line of descent in Javanese culture also important, but this is not meaning that we choose a mate from a descendant of nobility or rich people. We choose from a descendant of good people because in Javanese culture a family background is important. A character of person usually affected by their family such as how to educate and nurture their children


• Bebet
  Bebet word comes from bebedan and have mean how to dress or the way choosing a dress. Traditional Javanese people believe when a person who has a good way of using dress, is believing an as good person. Bebet is the most unimportant criteria because of the way of a person using dress sometimes can deceive our judgment. For example, a person put on an expensive or noble dress to cover his real status social as ordinary people.

Dalam tradisi Jawa, dalam memilih jodoh ada tiga kriteria yaitu :
Pertama bobot yaitu kualitas kepribadian seseorang. Kedua bibit atau dilihat dari garis keturunan akan tetapi bukan berarti diminta mencari jodoh dari keturunan bangsawan atau orang kaya, yang diminta adalah berasal dari keluarga baik-baik. Ketiga bebet, cara berpakaian juga termasuk penilaian karena mencerminkan pribadi seseorang akan tetapi syarat ini tidak mutlak karena cara berpakaian kadang menipu penilaian kita. Contohnya seseorang berpakaian mahal-mahal agar dipandang sebagai orang kaya padahal hanya orang biasa saja.(hp)
