Are Cults Really Dangerous?

What comes to mind when you hear the word cult? For most I would say a feeling of negativity, something to resist, and be cautious of. This is what came up for me anyway when i first looked at the word cult. Though, through further investigation what I realized is that everything is a cult. Cult is not a good or bad word, yet we within ourselves define it either unconsciously or in awareness to be something of value or something to resist. The in awareness part I will get to later on in this writing, what I want to look at now is the associations that this word has and the power it can have over someone to repel or resist a point of culture that is here, that exist, and that should be investigated to at least get the basic groundwork understanding of what this cult(ure) is about that first peaked your interest to pay attention.

So what comes up for me initially when looking at the word cult was something where people are brainwashed and taken over by a magnetic yet malevolent leader in a obscure group of individuals who do weird things and abuse and harm, and in the end commit mass suicide. Unfortunately there have been groups in this world that can be categorized as such in a way of this is actually what they have done, but this does not define all of what a cult is or can be. A cult is a group of individuals on this planet coming together for a specific purpose or reason based on a set of information that has connected all the people who become part of the cult group. There are many cults in this world as there are many groups. Cult is short for culture, a group of people living a specific way based on a set of specific information one practices, the word has only been stigmatized as bad, horrible, and evil due to the few that went to the extreme to cause harm and abuse, and was sensationalized to use as a form of mass control of people to not form groups that can challenge the status quo (this as a generalization of the idea of why the word cult can be divisive).

It is no secret that psychological techniques are used by many to direct people in specific ways, so it is always to investigate what cultures or cult groups you are becoming apart of and ensure that it in fact aligns with who you are and what you are going to stand for and as in this life as this culture has the potential to become part of your life and so become part of your self definition, the who you are and what you will create.

Now, when one investigates cults or groups there will be specific teachings related to that group, a set of vocabulary as language that will be associated with the education and communication in the group, and overall similar interests and goals set forth in the process of the group or cult directive in it’s purpose of why people joined in the first place. Some examples of this can be religions, specific hobby cultures like skateboarding, photography, gun culture, a group has a specific culture within it, which is like a specific understanding and way it flows in the life that it is expanding as in this world.

Who one is within this group or cult is solely up to each individual, no one and nothing can tell you who to be and what to invest your time in, and so it is advised to investigate all things and keep what is best.

So in the end it is just a word that defines a specific set of ideas that brings people together to practice and implement in a creative and unique way to the moment, the time, the location, and the set of information within the group that connects them all together. If one do not align with it then usually one would just walk away, if one has taken offense and start attacking the group then something has occurred within that person who reacted that they took personal, and here self responsibility and self control should be practiced to not cause unnecessary harmful consequences by taking that reaction out on others cause it is not about the others it is about self. If you don’t like something, simply walk away or stand within it and as it, and stand as a better way, a better solution that ALL people involved can be supported by and can practice as you have, and within this it expands and grows to be a better version of what it was before. This is supportive, this is of value, and this is what creates a world that we all would want to live in I would say, but when we attack and diminish others for something that went on within oneself in a belief that one is right to attack and cause harm, this is not acceptable and creates the destruction that we see all over our world.

To attack and defame a group or a cult without proper investigation and based on a reaction or judgment one has due to taking offense or taking something personal is up to self to sort out and understand, and so find ways to resolve the issues in a diplomatic way, and best would be through agreements with all involved. Fighting and causing harm no longer should be accepted within who we are because of the knowing and understanding that a solution for a better way is always here, and that is within self responsibility and living the solution for and as self for all. This takes a self will to stand in such a way where one becomes the solution and is patient for all involved to walk that solution equal and one until it is done, it is for sure a process and this is what the cult at desteni.org practices and works with. We come together in a culture of our own that all are welcome to for ourselves to become better human beings that can stand as living examples for this world that is best for all so oneness and equality of all life can emerge and harmony can be restored on this magnificent gift that is our home, our livelihood, and our mother, earth. This cult is said to be the cult that ends all cults and I agree, though before you react if you were to, take a breath and investigate the thousands of hours of material that has been published by hundreds of people over a decade of time, it’s a culture anyway that is waiting for you to discover it and create.
