"Traditional Dance and Jujus" ... culture in Nso land
Cameroon is a country of cultrual pluralism as manifested by more than 250 diverse ethnic groups that make up the Country.
I come from Nso (Banso). Besides, English, French and Pidgin English, I also speak Lamnso.
Nso is one of the Biggest Tribes (Kingdoms) In Cameroon situated in the North West Region in Bui Division. The Capital of Nso is Kumbo originally called Kimbo.
My tribe is one of the few Kingdoms in the country that still uphold and protect the heritage of their tradition and cultural values.
We have a vast culture and it is usually exhibited during the cultural week festival "Ngam Ngonso". “Ngonso” brings together all the various aspects of tradition and culture shared not only by the Nso people but also amongst the other tribes around Nso. During the festival, "Jujus" display.
Jujus are part of the Nso culture and they play an important role in the village especially during occasions such as funerals, weddings, etc
This juju is known as “Suubii” and it’s one of the juju’s that displayed during the memorial service of my grand mum. My grand mum was a Princess of the Nso Palace and this explains why juju’s had to display during her memorial service.
Enjoy some "Suubii" dance moves from Nso Fondom.
