Mornings
One weekend I had the reflex of getting to work right away like I always do. But then I realized it was Saturday. I felt graceful; I could just lay on my bed as long as I wanted, instead of rushing right away.
My morning routine is very straight forward: I get up right away, brush my teeth and get to my service place (I also put some clothes on in some moment, either before or after brushing my teeth). I've been doing it for so many times now that my "programming" barely turns off at weekends.
Fortunately, I'm a morning person – it has its benefits in our today's corporate lifestyle – but even I would've been pissed for the mornings some of my friends went through in the military; their mornings were infamous for being unpleasant, woken to a noise of loud music or just shouting from some asshole upper in hierarchy at 4-6AM. So, if you are fortunate enough to be out of the corporate 9-5, your morning might seem like the following.
But your life probably isn't that glorious, so the mornings for you and especially for my poor friends gone through military, were more like this:
"Mornings", or "aamut" in Finnish, are such lovable phenomena in the military that it has evolved into a meme:
SourceThat retarded look/the character(s) above is called "Spurdo". It's the iconic symbol of Finnish meme culture which we are well known (and hated) for online; I have heard from my friends that Finns were once banned in some German 4Chan-like website because of posting it full of those Spurdos. Oh, I think there was also an instance where someone successfully cracked into some university's printer and printed an endless amounts of, guess what, Spurdos. I don't even know where that character comes from I had to do some digging so now this will turn into a brief introduction of Finnish meme culture and Spurdo, you're welcome, and I'm sorry.
The Origins of Spurdo Spärde
SourceI found an complete article in Knowyourmeme that explains the whole history of Spurdo Spärde. Thank you Internet. It was really interesting though, maybe because I surprisingly wasn't too familiar with Finnish meme culture, although I knew some thanks to couple friends of mine who are balls deep into that.
SourceAs it turns out, Spurdo was born from Pedobear which in part was born in 4Chan originally. Then it continued to evolve in Finns' equivalent of 4Chan called "Ylilauta", and is to this day alive and well, I suspect.
And there is a Spurdo meme about everything.

EVERYTHING!!

Memes are little on the gray area if one is allowed or not to use them freely. But the very definition of a meme is that it "is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture" Source so I guess it's justifiable to "rip someone off" as it is already meant to spread around. I don't think memers give two shits about copyrights anyways.
Lol, I even found this article in Buzzfeed about Spurdo's American cousin, Le American Bear :DDDD
Back to Mornings
"Mornings", (aamut in Finnish) in military, are such a big deal that it has shaped the language of my friends, and through them, even mine. It has become part of a conversational tool to state that "that sucks ass/that's sounds so unmotivating or hard" when someone tells about an unfortunate event, making you a grumpy mumbler:
"I just had two 12 hour shifts in the ware house with only 6 hours in between of them."
"Aamuja vaan", which ruffly translated could mean something like "Good morning for you" in a sarcastic manner – a reference to the similar nature and feel of the rough mornings that comes from the unfortunate event. It's not a definite translation, and my Finnish friends will understand why that is – sometimes languages just don't have substitution that would correspond, especially with a spoken language that is constantly evolving with new slangs influenced by culture(s) within institutions, like the military.
"In Finland we have this thing called Mornings"
That phrase I heard from a friend of mine, another meme invented in military. Anyway, I think it's enough with the memes now :DDD

I have never ever before stubled upon that face. :D It may be that I'm too old so I'll ask my child.

He says this has been around like... foreverer.
So have I missed much not knowing about this? :D
Lol, I don't think not seeing any Spurdos is that big of a loss, except a few chuckles. Anyhow, you're bit more "civilized" about our Internet culture so you're welcome :D
Thanks! :)
lol never thought about mornings so thoroughly before
Yeah duuuude, mornings – they're deeeeeep.
Thanks but again...AM A GIRLLL
I know, sorry, it just would've felt wrong to say dudette.
