Who are teens?
Who are youths?
What’s the difference between youths and teens?
According to Britannica, Teens are those between the years 13 to 19 in the human life span, a period roughly equivalent to adolescence; while adolescence is a transitional phase of growth and development between childhood and adulthood.
Youths has its Membership limited to persons 10 to 30 years old. In the present age, everyone mistake all youths to be teens. Not all youths are teens but all teens are youths.
Teenage stage in the human growth ladder is the most sensitive and impulsive stage. At this stage teens tend to do crazy thing by living out their crazy perception of how life should be. One of the prominent characteristics of this stage is the high secretion of sex hormones like androgen or testosterone and estrogen. These hormones are responsible for sexual urges and sexual activities common among the youths.
These youths are known to be violent, promiscuous, and prone to illegal activities like drug addiction etc. and party freaks. All these depend on the culture of the country or parental upbringing.

In most African countries especially Nigeria it is very wrong for teens or youths to be disrespectful to elderly one or refer to an elderly person with just his/her given name. In most Hollywood movies, a younger character is seen to refer to an elderly character by just his given name. Example, in vampire’s diary, the character of Josh is seen referring to an elder character Alleric who is supposed to be his aunt’s boyfriend by just his name. In a typical African country, he would have been regarded as being disrespectful. in the Yoruba culture in Nigeria, a boy greets his elders pustrating, while the girl kneels.
In my next post on youths and teenagers i will talk about the solutions.
