My photography 📷Cultural heritage of Uttarakhand📷
Uttarakhand is a small state in the northern part of India. This state is also known as 'Devbhumi', which means the 'land of the gods', because many Hindu temples and pilgrimage sites are found throughout this Himalayan state. This state has a rich cultural and architectural heritage which can be seen in many temples and other sites here.
Dear Steemians! I am presenting you glimpses of this rich cultural heritage.
'Makku Mahadev'
This temple is located at a small village in Rudraprayag district. This is the winter abode of lord Tungnath, one of the most important deities of the Hindus.
Above idols and artifacts are symbols of Makku Mahadev, the winter form of Lord Tungnath.
Kalimath Temple
This famous 'shakti peeth' is located nearby a hill city Guptkashi. There are 108 Shakti Peethas in India and this holy shrine is one of them as per Srimad Devi Bhagwat. 'Siddha peetha' means a place of attaining higher spiritual awakening dedicated to devis (goddess).
Kalimath is located at the bank of Saraswati river. This river had almost destroyed this small village in a June 2013 devastating flood which was caused by the cloud bursts in many parts of Uttarakhand.
