But in this post we'll focus on homemade idle, especially those that are characteristic and popular in the midst of the life of housewives in Aceh, who made from the coconut shell as follows.

The Ladle Making Process

The process of making the ladle are starting to clean up the coconut shell at the first time, then determine the diameter of the cavity to be made by splitting it into two parts. After that, the shell that has been formed smoothed with sandpaper.

Next stage, we should make a hole to install its handle and prepare the handle that we can be made from wood. Make sure between the hole size with the handle are fit.

If you want it look more beautiful, you can paint it as you desire (wood color).

The Myth of Aceh Coconut Shell Ladle

There are at least two of the myths that developed in the midst of the life of Aceh people about this ladle, as follows :

1. If you are hit with the ladle then you will be transformed into an ape.

In fact, this myth is only used to frighten children so as not to be naughty and against his parents, with the threat of being hit with a ladle.

So this is entirely a myth whose truth can not be accounted for and has never been proven.

2. If the fishbone stuck in the esophagus, just drink the water using a ladle, then it will come out by itself.

For this one myth, I personally have tried it several times and proved successful. If you are experiencing the same incident, then consider trying out the tips that have been trusted for generations by the people of Aceh, since a few centuries ago.

I can not explain this from a medical science perspective, but according to the explanation of our ancestors, this happens because of one trait attached to the ladle, named "seumaloe".

Seumaloe (Basa Aceh):
Is something taboo to do, and if you keep doing it, it will be the antithesis (opposite) for something else, such as: if you soak salted fish into salt water, then the fish tastes to be not salty anymore.

So, this second myth of the Aceh coconut shell ladle is a fact.
