Counter Strike : Global Offensive Now Has A FREE Version, Here’s What’s Included

But there’s a catch, the content inside of Counter Strike : Global Offensive is very limited, let’s take a look at what’s included in the Free edition of CS:GO.

The menu itself looks very boring without the player model standing there, and there is no way to add one currently, if you press the inventory to change you get greeted with a lovely message telling you to go and purchase the game because apparently skins and a player model or changing weapons from the normal ones to the silenced versions is “Online”. There’s also a big box on the left telling you that you do not own the game license for CS:GO and if you would like to purchase it.

So what is included in CS:GO’s Free edition?

You get the ability to play against bots on every map and game mode available within the default game itself, a perfect way for people to experience CS:GO and what it is all about. Playing against these bots should give you a rough idea of what it would be like to play against real players, although the CS:GO bots still aren’t the smartest ones around (thanks openai).

Surprisingly you can also play any map you are subscribed to on the workshop, if you’re willing to play against bots on those maps you can play just fine, every map shows up without any questions asked.

This is very interesting to see as this really allows some players to enjoy the game just fine without ever having to purchase the game to go offline, I personally know buddies that play multiplayer games solo vs bots just because they enjoy it more. With a little imagination and fantasy I can see a lot of people enjoying custom workshop maps in CS:GO Free Edition.

There’s one last feature you get in CS:GO Free Edition, the Watch tab.

Obviously you could just go on any streaming site and watch events there but there is just something to it when you are watching a game in CS:GO itself. It Really makes you feel a part of the match. Previously people were forced to purchase the game to watch live events in-game, this is now not the case anymore since this feature is included in the free edition.
