The Gamer's Coin - Refereum

in #crytocurrency7 years ago

The gaming industry is growing. Developers are trying to get their spotlight, and gamer's are looking for their next binge. This is all every day, common interactions that happen, and we never even stop to think about the process that has happened to link these events.

Marketing has hit upon a new form of spreading news about their products, and that is through Live Streaming (twitch and YouTube). These platforms are allowing everyday people access to share their content with the world, and interact with their audience as if they were in the room, watching everything that is happening. This kind of interaction pulls the viewer in, makes them want to do what the streamer is doing, even end up purchasing a game to experience the same thrills and joy and fear that their favorite broadcaster is experiencing.

The idea is simple. Game developers want their game to get a light shined on it, influencers (streamers, youtubers, etc) want income, and gamers want new games to play. What is currently connecting all three of these is a fourth corner, which costs billions of dollars each year, even though only a small fraction of those billions actually make it through to an influencer. The big marketing companies keep a vast majority of the money developers put into getting their product out, and has resulted in a slow decline in the amounts available to develop a game. This alone could explain the slow stagnation and lack of innovation in video games, but that is for a whole different post.

The founders at Refereum have a dream, and that is to get rid of that dark pit of a fourth corner; to help connect developers with gamers with influencers. This triangle has been invaded by the opportunists, and the goal is to push them out. The coin Refereum (RFR) is revolutionizing the marketing and distribution game (see what I did there?) for developers, and allowing them to reduce their costs in those areas. From this, we can potentially see a decrease in game cost and an increase in content and innovation.

The triangle that Refereum is forming will allow game developers to put their games for sale at the cost of a certain amount of RFR, and the gamer can spend these RFR to obtain the game. Then, not only can the gamer play it this new awesome game, but they can potentially earn rewards (in RFR) for completing task, such as a tutorial, a campain, refering a friend, or even winning a championship in an eSports tournament. The value in this alone is massive. This allows direct support between gamers and developers with zero middle mane interaction, no "store" taking their cut, no agency taking a cut for getting a spotlight.

Referring people has been around since the start of society. Word of mouth, flyers, commercials, phone books (now commonly used as booster seats or door stops), ads on a web page, all of these are expansions on that idea. Instead, Refereum rewards the user directly for their referrals which result in sales, and they can share that percentage of profit they would normally pay to a platform or ad agency directly with the user.

This model is next generation for Twich and Youtube Streamers and vLog'ers. They can get direct payments for the referrals they make, with no need to approach the company directly and hash out a likely under paid deal, all the while missing out on some company because they were not at the right place at the right time.

TL;DR, Refereum is removing a middle-man between gamers and developers, allowing people to get direct rewards, and to fund their preferred career or lifestyle. The community is great, the staff is active on discord, and there are already games on the market for the pre-sale token holders. The starting price is $0.01, and I highly expect this to take off as more games are added to the list (right now, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is on the market for 2500 tokens, which is $25 and less than the cost to purchase on Steam). They have a contest running right now for referrals to get into certain tiers (referral link because that is what this is about: Refereum) and get free tokens and merchandise. They are going to run another contest after this one before the ICO in Feb. Check them out, watch their videos, join the community of 65k+ users already using the system.!
