New social media platform JustHive kick starts ICO
Competition isn't too bad after all. Soon after Sapien, a new social media platform based on tokens and rewarding authors and curators launched its BETA on 30 April, Ned Scott from Steemit announced his plans of directing steemit towards an account-based voting system. Which means Whales will lose their weight in the community. More than flaws and failures of a staked-backed voting system, it's likely that the launch of Sapien has shaken up Ned. JustHive has launched their ICO pre-sale backed by a new digital currency. The soon to be launched social media platform has started its token sale and is going on a 60% discount right now. JustHive promises to be a proactive social media player with micro-forums.
The second pre-sale offers 40$ discount and the third 20% discount. Pre-sales are closed once the hard sale cap is reached. I wouldn't want to miss out on the token sale because most of these platform allow only participants of their ICO to use and test their BETA version.
Another social media platform that works similar to steemit is only allowing token holders to use their platform. As we've seen on Steemit, it's best to be an early bird and build on followers before it gets crowded.
Ned from Steemit last week hinted how he plans to guide steemit away from a "stake-weighted" voting to an "account-weighted" voting. This will be a big victory for steemit. Sapien intends to go down the "account-weighted" system and runs on ERC20 unlike Steemit that has its own blockchain.

STOPCompetition is always good as it forces good communities to continue to innovative to attract more content. First movers though typically have an advantage as long as they are engaged and on top of the latest disruptions in the industry. STEEM with the upcoming SMTs in addition to its great scaling abilities should be able to continue its growth.
