The Biggest Hidden Story: Satoshi Nakamoto Was Interested in BitTorrent Before Justin Sun

It turns out that Justin Sun was not the first one to be interested in and inspired by BitTorrent. The first, it’s turning out, was the anonymous creator of world’s first and most successful cryptocurrency called Bitcoin. Yes, the guy (or guys – if it was a group of people) whom we know as Satoshi Nakamoto. This has been revealed in some of the early emails sent by Nakamoto, which were analyzed recently by DailyHODL.

The emails reveal that Satoshi’s plan of creating a “peer-to-peer, completely decentralized electronic cash system with no trusted 3rd party” was inspired primarily by BitTorrent. He had also given examples of BitTorrent in his emails to explain how such a network would scale. One of his emails says:

However, Bitcoin Foundation didn’t acquire BitTorrent. That was pulled off by Justin Sun, who now plans to integrate both TRON and BitTorrent deeply. Recently Justin revealed his plans to incentivize users of BitTorrent network with TRON tokens. He said:

“At this point, there is no incentive for peers who have completed downloading to continue to seed. We intend to extend the rewards to peers who seed torrents, infusing more resources into the current ecosystem…

Hundreds of millions of BT users across the globe will become part of the Tron ecosystem. BitTorrent will be the largest application on the Tron network, which will allow Tron to pass Ethereum on daily transactions and become the most influential public chain in the world.

The integration of BitTorrent and Tron will offer new possibilities to global payment and settlement of the Tron online content. The creators of this content will reach hundreds of millions of global users through this decentralized network without intermediaries.”

With these plans in mind and BitTorrent in its kitty TRON is proudly touting itself as ‘the largest decentralized network in the world’. Its decentralization is a topic of debate though, especially after Justin Sun and BitTorrent both coming ahead to be the Super Representatives of the network.

Now think for a while… what would’ve happened if Bitcoin Foundation would’ve snapped up BitTorrent a few years ago? Wouldn’t it have led to the creation of a decentralized network so large that other networks could only dream of becoming as large as it? Share your thoughts in the comments.
