Walmart using Blockchain to make shipping smarter and faster?

A new patent application finds that retail giant Walmart is looking to use blockchain technology to refine a smarter package delivery tracking system.

is an app placed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on Thursday. The Walmart giant describes it as intelligent packages because it plans to use a device that registers information in a blockchain such as location and more. They also think of using automated vehicles such as drones as emerging technologies of this project.

the project was presented in August 2017 as an automated delivery system in automated drones through blockchain. The company explains that it is a challenge to send retail purchases to different parties, so it needs to innovate and adjust to new technologies, as described the giant the app.

"These online customers often seek to buy items that may require a controlled environment and also seek to have greater security in the shipping package in which the items are shipped."

the application indicates that all information will be encrypted by the blockchain from the information or in the case of address of seller, messenger, buyer among others this encryption will be and will have key addresses along the chain of custody [of the package] thus helping to the progress of the great company and improvements in their shipments
