Boolin' with the Bastards #2: LA Crypto Invest Summit 2k18
"Another day, another crypto conference" as the old saying goes. Last week our bastards descended on Los Angelos California to attend the Crypto Invest Summit. Here we met the man who introduced Floyd Mayweather to the crypto scene, the man who made the EOS necklace worn by Brock Pierce, and variety of other prominent members of the community.
Highlights included a live taping of CNBC Africa's "Crypto Trader," hosted by none other than Ran NeuNer (@CryptoManRan) himself.
Our favorite interview featured Luke Martin (@VentureCoinist) giving us his analysis of the current state of the market and where it's going. He explained how he likes to use the ETH/BTC graph to identify when alts are undervalued. This strategy is based on the idea that when the most significant alt (ETH) is worth less in comparison to BTC than usual, it indicates that all alt coins are as well, meaning they have more room to move upwards. Based on this concept of the market going through cycles of varying BTC dominance, Luke suggests a bullish short-term outlook for alts.
Hopefully, we will get a chance to meet with Luke this month at Blockchain Week in NYC!
We were also able to catch up with one of our favorite influencers, Omar Bahm (@crypt0snews). We chatted about everything that had happened in the market since we first met at BTC Miami earlier this year. We also discussed possibly collaborating on some content at Consensus next week. See you there Omar!
In the conversation about regulation, it is often posed as the community vs. the government. This was not true at the CoinCircle after conference event where Brian Forde spoke. Brian was an advisor to the Obama administration on science and technology, now he is running for congress in California. Brian is the one of the first to accept cryptocurrency for campaign donations, and also one of the first to openly support the blockchain movement. In his speech, he explained the challenges of getting the older crowd in congress to wrap their heads around crypto.
If you would like to support his campaign, you can follow him on twitter @BrianForde and donate to his campaign at www.forde.com.
Chief among our reasons for attendence was to represent one of our favorite projects: Arbitraj.io. While we may be a little biased as our two teams share a member, it is hard not to be excited about this platform.
The platform is focusing on providing tools to help users take advantage of price differences between exchanges. While it is currently a simple website that displays the best arbitrage oppurtunities across 60+ exchanges, there are several tiers of expansion planned.
Among these planned upgrades are:
A chrome extension that will overlay on a exchange's UI and alert users if lower prices exist elsewhere.
Offering an API so others can leverage their data collection for their own projects.
Automated arbitrage trading bot to take advantage of oppurtunities automatically.
Artificial intelligence platform integration. The AI will gather relevant data from a swath of sources in order to
answer user questions.
If you're interested in the project and want to be updated when the chrome extension is released, you can sign up for the email list at the bottom of this page: www.arbitraj.io
Alltogether Crypto Invest Summit was another great conference. Always a pleasure to be able to spend some time getting to know this rapidly expanding the community. We have some big things planned for Blockchain Week and Consensus this month, so stay tuned!
