What bothers me about a lot of today's sci-fi is that it often projects a dystopian future, but then again this is what good writers do: they pick up on the prevailing mood. I'm glad the writer was able to inject some humour and philosophy into what could otherwise be a dark, foreboding topic.

One question: how did you manage to contact the author for this interview? Was it based on an email exchange?
