Even if the computerized ai may think the same as us and perhaps we may not be able to distinguish the origin of a given thought being ai or human, a distinguishing factor in my mind is do they have a family or cultural history in their thought algorithm. They may indeed think they are alive, but unless they remember their ancestry, their parents, and have emotions, I still think that makes them less alive, not living. But perhaps in this alien experiment I have been programmed to think that , hmmm.
