Hello 2018 - My 2017 in Review

Here is the last photo of me taken during 2017.... box seats at a King's game.

It has been a while since I have updated. This past year has certainly been a magical year of ordeals and an interesting extension of the effects from the off pattern causes of 2016. Here are my personal highlights from 2017:

• The Year of Existential Crisis for me.

A period of awkward transitions on so many levels! 2018 looks like it will be the year of various things being resolved.

• Became a cryptocurrency enthusiast.

I learned about cryptocurrencies from @DollarVigilante and started to invest in them. I like the idea of taking on the responsibility and risks of using blockchain technology as my own personal bank. My holdings are both long and short term; I keep my trading to a minimum.

• Developed materials for organic photovoltaics.

I designed and synthesized a series of dipyromethane based derivatives to be used as acceptors in solar cells.

Here they are in solution. One photo shows what they look like when you shine UV/vis light on it, and one without. If its absorbing light and minimizing its emission of light; its not emitting light because electrons are being mobilized instead of relaxing back to its ground state, emitting light in the process.

• Art.

I have been making progress on creating a large body of work that has eternity in mind. I have been exploring the process of creation and the nature of reality through ancient texts, mythology, mathematics and science. It has been an adventure so far! More to come. In the meantime...
