Decentralized Apps Like CryptoKitties Are Stalling
The popularity of apps running on a decentralised platforms (DApps) has been stalling lately. According to research site Diar, popular DApp CryptoKitties, the viral blockchain-based game centred on the collection of cartoon cats that disrupted the Ethereum network upon its launch in November 2017, saw its daily visitors drop by 96 per cent over the past few months (to August).
Other big DApps, such as the banking app Bancor, which raised USD153m in 2017, are struggling, too. Bancor reportedly has shrunk to a user base of only 457 daily users.
It is incredibly terrible! This indicate that crptokitties is just a trend only
Yes and overall not much new things were added.
Only simple collectibles. People moved on.
Maybe that's just because better gaming DApps are here. Like EOS Knights! And more fully fledged games coming that aren't just trading digital collectibles.
IDK if Ethereum will be the best platform for these types of DApps.
I agree that Ethereum is not built for big applications.
I did not know about EOS knights and I have to check it out.
The current situation of the cryptocurrency market is what is causing this drop. People also paying attention to ETF is also contributing to it. We all were screaming decentralization before and I wonder where we stand now or have we lost already.
Amen !
ETFs would kill cryptos. Financial world would destroy our only hope...
Could you say steemmonsters is very much allike crypto kitties?
I wouldn't say so. First Steem is not ETH. We do not have issues with transactions.
The improvment and fighting mode that they are developing will truly make it useful to play the game to earn cards and prizes !
@vlemon i think due to lack of updates & new features it happened!

Cryptokitties adds nothing to the market but it shows how easily people are roped into a game that offers no true value. Of course I understand that the people choose what succeeds so in that way cryptokitties shows that if theres a market you can succeed. Whether I think its dumb doesn't matter, what matters is what the market thinks.
