RE: Two Thousand Cryptocurrencies and Most are Garbage. Good!

Steem epitomizes the potential of blockchain. It's a platform for global industry and entrepreneurship. You can build a business on Steem and as long as people value your business, they will value Steem. It's all about users and developers. As one of the characters in my book says, "as long as you have access to the blockchain and technology to update the blockchain," you can use Steem. Community, not Steem Inc, will decide if Steem lives.

Community, not Steem Inc, will decide if Steem lives.

The mass decides always but the management has to create the proper conditions of transparency for the mass to decide positively.

What's stopping the witnesses from splitting off?

I don't know about a HF Mark, at this point I think I would like it. Not a technical one, more like one focused on an equal distribution of the reward pool, especially rewarding true content.

This problem will take care of itself once we have SMTs and spin-off projects that use the Steem blockchain. You're going to essentially create communities of users -- mini-economies that use Steem's tokens to curate content and reward users. Steemit will become just one of many businesses that run on the Steem blockchain (e.g., SteemMonsters, SteemCreate, etc). And whatever @bananafish collective comes up with. It's mind-blowing the possibilities for innovation once you remove the YouTubes, Twitters, and Facebooks of the world. Maybe Steemit will fade away? Steem blockchain will remain for as long as people are committed to maintaining it.
