Lympo: The Blockchain's Lymphatic System?
My first thought on seeing the name ‘Lympo’ was its similarity to the word ‘Lymphatic.’ As much as I tried, I couldn’t separate the two. Then, I sought out to find a connection, if any, existed between them. This is what I found.
The lymphatic system is a key player in our body circulatory system that serves a drainage system kind of function by returning excess fluid in the form of ‘lymph’ back to the blood circulatory system. In the process of serving this ‘drainage role’, it cleanses the fluid of debris and contaminating toxins and helps to restore the balance of fluid and homeostasis.
The global health data industry is an evolving innovative field of bioinformatics that seeks to maximize global healthcare and efficiency by taking advantage of health data across a wide range of the global population. Health care has always been guided by and is heavily reliant on information. Information and data regarding medical history, physical examination, vital signs and physical and laboratory evidence.
Information in the global health field is particularly critical as it could improve the complexities surrounding health delivery, performances and interventions. But the size of the global population, the accessibility of data in most countries and the privacy laws surrounding global health data continue to cripple its use to improve decision making and progress in health service delivery. While the mobile health approach has gone a long way to advance to some extent the use of data in healthcare delivery, it hasn’t been able to fully maximize its entry and efficiency that the big data approach presents. M-health projects are limited in their data collection ability, their ability to interoperate and maximize the data obtained and reward users while protecting their privacy.
Lympo is an ecosystem where users are able to produce and control their health data, major stakeholders are able to have access to these data and the users are rewarded through the LYM utility token.
Lympo aims to provide an environment where individuals have complete control over their health data, stakeholders in the health industry (gym owners, personal trainers and sports coaches, investors, Fitness/wellness/health start-ups and Health and fitness apps) can have access to these information to improve their health service delivery while rewarding users through the LYM utility token in a payment system secured by the blockchain technology. The users exert complete control over their data by granting stakeholders access to it under any conditions they choose to impose.
Lympo’s innovative approach will completely transform the global health data industry by acting as it’s lymphatic system. By collecting what was been left unoptimized (data, for the lymphatic system- lymph), and channeling it back into the global health industry while improving healthcare delivery for its users by providing much needed data to stakeholders and leaving control of this access totally to the user. To underline all these benefits, it rewards the user through the LYM utility token that can be conveniently spent on a marketplace under transactions secured through the blockchain technology.
The Lympo ecosystem is founded on three pillars:
- Lympo fitness wallet and user rewards mechanism
This mechanism is the main port of entry into the Lympo ecosystem and all the benefits it offers. Here, the users open a fitness wallet and generate all their necessary health data which can be linked to different sports and health tracking applications. To access the user data or lure users to use their different services, stakeholders might attach a reward to their programs which can be received by the user through the Lympo fitness wallet powered by the LYM utility token.
- A marketplace
The in-built marketplace marks a convenient outlet for the user to spend earned tokens on the Lympo ecosystem.
- Lympo crowdfunding platform
Through the crowdfunding platform, investment opportunities abound for token holders to take advantage of the most proficient wellness and health service applications.
Lympo’s generous offer of giving away 20% of its shares to token holders will arm the startups with a ready made health users data to kick off their services with, rather than spending years collating and analyzing health data while dealing with the stringent privacy laws attached to it.
What will they achieve?
In this ecosystem, unlike others, everyone gets rewarded for their contribution to the platform. Lympo help users retain privacy and control of their health data by leaving control to them. Also, data users will be armed with proof of access to user’s data after having met users conditions of accessibility. This eliminates the privacy problem limiting the global health industry.
The access to different sets of health data across a wide range of the population will improve the efficiency of global health service delivery. The incentivized mechanism will push users to take an active role in improving their lifestyle, thereby improving health and wellness.
What kind of places would you like to see Lympo implemented (local gym, fitness training centers, healthy living stores, etc)?
I would like to see Lympo implemented in a fitness training center and diet programme health service provider for diabetics. Following the rigid diet and exercise programme has always been an issue for diabetics. But under the Lympo ecosystem, especially the incentivized mechanism, they can be motivated to stick to their regimen thereby improving their health and fitness.
I think the Lympo ecosystem has been rightly termed ‘an ecosystem’ which biologically means man’s interaction with his physical environment. Here, Lympo is taking an innovative approach to solving the problems in the global health data industry by transforming the way individuals interact with their personal health data while rewarding them towards an improved lifestyle.
Just like the biological lymphatic system that drains away useful interstitial fluid, cleanses it and returns it to the circulatory system to restore balance, the Lympo ecosystem provides a symbiotic relationship for all stakeholders and the individuals involved. It also changes the outlook of the global health industry by helping users control their health data, cleanses the ‘dirty linen’ of suspicion brought on by privacy laws and returns the data to the system by making it available to stakeholders under the user’s conditions.

The idea looks good, but it also sounds a little weird... people would get paied to be healty, the government would love this idea because it would decrease the amount of money they need to spend on medical care, but the pharmaceutical companies wouldn't like it very much, in the end i think the drug companies have more power than the government ... but let's see, i, as a huge fitness addict would love to see where this is going, i could finally get paied for all the hours i spend in the gym instead of paying for the gym subscription!! Which is something, that imo, should be free!
Yh, like all genius ideas it sounds wierd, at first. But the blockchain technology has literally changed everything and not one could have imagined how much.
