Ledger will add PIVX, Viacoin and Vertcoin support to the Nano S and Blue on the 16th!

Owning a Ledger Nano S I like to stay informed on any developments. As we all know the Ledger Nano S is perhaps the best and the most sold hardware wallet. Very slick and easy to use device but most of all it's extremely secure and that's why people but them. Many people, including myself, rely on the Ledger Nano S to hold their coins.

Today I took a look at their roadmap which they have publicly available on Trello.

I'm glad to announce that the best is only getting better. They are (probably) going to release support for 3 cryptocurrencies on the 16th: PIVX, Viacoin and Vertcoin! I don't really care much for the last two, but I'm excited for PIVX!

If Ledger is going to release support for these coins on the 16th people with a Nano S or a Blue will be able to transfer their coins to these devices for extra safe keeping. I believe that when a major player in the wallet scene chooses to add a certain coin to the list it gives a boost when it comes to trust in the project. It will also make these coins more visible to (new) Ledger users, potentially getting more people to jump on board.

One thing I would like to point out when it comes to PIVX though is that when you move coins to a Ledger device you will not be able to stake them as you can when you leave them in the PIVX Core wallet. So if you're getting staking rewards you probably don't want to move them.
