The GREAT Manny Pacquiao Joins The Cryptocurrency Market

Whoever happens to know me in person, knows VERY WELL about my LOVE for boxing and combat sports in general. I have been watching boxing from the day I remember myself, while I used to be a fairly succesful Kickboxer/Pankratiast myself, winning numerous High-School, State, Regional, University and National tournaments back in my younger days. 

So reading today's news about "Pac-Man" entering the world of Crypto has been the best news I've read in a while. In case you wonder who Manny Pacquiao is, however, let me enlighten you a bit. 

Who Manny Pacquiao Is

To begin with, Manny is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing, having won eleven major world titles, as well as being the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes.

He is also the first boxer in history to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight classes of boxing: flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight. 

He was named "Fighter of the Decade" for the 2000s by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), WBC, and WBO. He is also a three-time Ring magazine and BWAA Fighter of the Year, winning the award in 2006, 2008, and 2009; and the Best Fighter ESPY Award in 2009 and 2011.

Pacquiao has generated approximately 19.2 million in pay-per-view buys and $1.2 billion in revenue from his 23 PPV bouts. According to Forbes, he is the second highest paid athlete in the world for the past 25 years with an astonishing net-worth of nearly $500 million. So, as you probably understand by now, the man has been REALLY WISE with his investments and him joining the Cryptocurrency Market shows you only ONE THING: he clearly sees profit in it. 

Last but not least, in May 2010, Pacquiao was elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines, representing the province of Sarangani. He was re-elected in 2013 to the 16th Congress of the Philippines, while in June 2016, Pacquiao was elected as a senator and will serve a six-year term until 2022. His influence in the Philippines and the rest of the world (when it comes to boxing) is truly IMMENSE!!!!!!

Allow me to say that Pacman is BY FAR the most influential and famous celebrity to ever join the Crypto-World (so far). 

Pacquiao is Latest To Enter The Cryptocurrency Market

According to Boxing Scene, Manny Pacquiao is officially getting in on the cryptocurrency hype. Entrepreneur Philippines, Singapore-based Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) announced on Wednesday that the Philippine senator is their newest celebrity ambassador. Furthermore, when Pacquiao wasn't destroying his opponents inside the ring, kept investing a lot of money in the company. 

 The company said Pacquiao will use GCOX’s cryptocurrency services, which will allow his fans, apparently through their social network, to interact through a virtual token called PAC Coin, which will enable users to avail of Pacquiao-related content exclusive to GCOX’s platforms.

The startup claims to be “the world’s first platform that tokenizes popularity, enhancing the mainstream adoption of the token economy. GCOX helps celebrities create their personal cryptocurrencies.”

According to GCOX, celebrities and fans exchange through Celebrity Tokens within GCOX. “In this symbiotic ecosystem, ACM is traded for Celebrity Tokens via our proprietary exchange. Celebrity tokens can then be used by fans to redeem goods and services on the core business platforms,” their website reads.

This wouldn’t be Pacquiao’s first investment in Singapore. In 2014, the boxer purchased an undisclosed amount of shares in mixed martial arts company ONE Championship, which is one of the main overseas competitors to the UFC. 

So, if this is not the most exciting news you've heard today about the Crypto-World, then I really don't know what can excite you more.
