in #cryptocurrency5 years ago (edited)

Bithub Africa is a blockchain startup based in Kenya operating a small mining facility. It is well known that, mining crypto involves high electricity consumption which makes the mining process so expensive especially to the ordinary people.

Bithub Africa has invested in solar energy to ease the mining of bitcoin and ethereum in particular as their main cryptos. The company also hopes to extend the technology to the rest of Africa.

At the mining facility, the company has laid several interconnected cables and devices. An inverter connects to a battery, which is dispatched through to a controller which connects to a 200-watts solar panel. This solar energy PV module is fixed to the roof at angle to maximize trapped sunlight.

The firm also uses standard solar panels to generate enough solar energy to power a small network node that runs the available blockchain software to generate the tokens on the protocol.

Bithub Africa focuses on building systems that facilitate adoption of blockchain technology and solutions in Africa through blockchain projects.
