Xapo Deactivates Their User's Bitcoin Debit Cards

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

The debit cards of Xapo has become useless after Visa ordered Wave Crest Holdings Ltd. (the issuer of the Xapo debit cards) to close all the Visa cards immediately on 4th of January.

What is bad for the Xapo users, an opportunity for others, like Monaco, who wants to disrupt the cryptocurrency wallet and debit card market. They want to issue cards at more levels, and even the free card has features like free ATM withdrawal up to $200. At higher card level, they offer higher limits, cashback, metal cards, etc.

Xapo started searching a new card issuer partner and has promised a free card for old members of their debit card program once they find one, but if Monaco will be fast enough to successfully issue their own cards, it will be an easy switch for many users.

If Monaco manages to become mainstream, it will bring a lot of new investors to the crypto world.

I think they will.
Getting a debit card with good conditions without a bank account which has strict rules and fine prints is impossible now. They want to change this situation.

Looks like a lot of crypto cards are having issues lately.

Yes, Wave Crest was the issuer of many of them, like Bitwala, TenX, Wirex and Cryptopay. All of their users' cards are cancelled now, and they have to find a new issuer.

Monaco is a very interesting coin and if it gets implemented it would skyrocket!
