We might be in for a rocky ride.
My thought is to convert my ETH into BTC for the split and move it back right after. ETH will be lower due to people selling it to buy BTC and will go back up right after.
BTC might drop for a short time for fear of instability and once the blockchain proves to be stable after the fork, it will start to rise to possibly more than it previously was
