Fedcoin: Will the U.S. issue a cryptocurrency?

The U.S. government has been watching the rise of cryptocurrency, whether or not they're largely for it or against it is yet to be determined. One prediction from Doug Casey, famed for his record of being correct about political and economic trends, has predicted that the U.S. will attempt to create their own e-currency. Casey has previously said; "Social Security is bankrupt… Forty-seven percent of the people in this country are net recipients of money from the government… Officially, one-third of all the US government’s assets are student loans; little-known fact. About $1 trillion worth of them".
