What is the story on Ripple?

Some of the crypto experts...please help.

What is the deal on Ripple? I find that some are very high on that currency (presently the 4th largest by market cap) while others are stay away. Now I know that having camps divided on most currencies is natural yet the opinions seem rather strong for something that is so undeveloped relatively speaking. I mean, look at ETH...it is the 2nd largest by market cap yet you only have a few that are emphatic about being against it.

So is Ripple something that is serious or are there too many problems to overcome?
