Word of the day, hashgraph.

Oddly enough, this has come across more than once or twice today. Almost as if it were the word of the day. I find the potential of hashgraph fascinating, only a little more centralized than we may realize. I think too little is still known about it. For one, it is very privatized, with no transparency on the fundraising. I was impressed to an extent on the speed and scaling it may have, however is it open-source?
I'm interested if anyone else has opinions about this looming presence on the horizon. I am aware some may feel very passionate about it, good or bad, so let's be tactful please
