Are there still hidden gems in cryptocurrency?

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

We have all heard that if you would have bought $10 of Bitcoin in 2011, it would be worth millions now.. But are there still cryptocurrencies that you can buy for pennies now, and be worth thousands in a few years?

That depends on how you see the future of blockchain technology.

Sure there are great projects like STEEM, and hundreds using Ethereum, but at what point does it become Tulip Mania or even the Dot-Com Bubble.. Where we see the majority of the companies go to zero and only a few companies that dominate like Amazon or Google.

It makes me wonder about thinks like ICO's or SMT's.. Ned had talked about in his interview at SteemFest about everything being tokenized.. Will we see a lot more pump and dump schemes or will we start to see a new decentralized Digital Community start to emerge AND merge with the current digital world?

I think with all of the printing happening already, there needs to be some accountability, and with blockchain that is possible. Not only with money, but with other things like..

  • Gaming
  • Real Estate
  • Precious Metals
  • Voting on the blockchain

Pretty much anything take can be done digitally will be improved dramatically with blockchain!

In the past I did a post about the different types of cryptocurrencies that goes into further detail about it here:

Conclusion

I think we are starting to see more important companies and projects ALL moving to blockchain. Even some governments are trying to get a grip where they can and trying to regulate crypto, but all in all just like Bitcoin in countries that have banned it.. They can't stop it, they can only regulate it.

Hopefully the world starts to embrace it, and see how much Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can improve their lives more than they could imagine!

Thanks for checking out my post, and let me know what you think the future holds for cryptocurrency!

There will be many blockchains and, at some point, we will see interoperability enter the picture. Browsers will be developed that go from blockchain to blockchain. At present, there is no standard with each chain having entirely different coding.

The multitude of blockchains will coexist serving different purposes. Sure there will be failures, scams, and just plain bad ideas. That said, the crypto world will explode.

So for an undervalued coin, in my opinion, BTS....if nothing else, worth a $100 as a lottery ticket.

Yeah people spend A LOT on lottery tickets lol you would think they would think of cryptos like they do a $10 scratch off ticket.

I'll throw NEO into the ring. They are doing everything correctly in China including working with the government. While awaiting the future you can sit back and collect GAS as well.

I like that they are both capped (unlike Ethereum which technically has no cap) AND supports multi coding languages.

Agreed, capped and the amount of the cap is important as well. Supply and demand works in the crypto world.

All of the above - Best Bet Gem - EOS

Even Dan said that people can copy EOS and the value could be worth nothing, but like I said in a previous comment at least there is a cap, whereas Ethereum has no set cap..

Yea they can copy it... but its worth nothing without the community ... which is the whole point of the 1 yr ICO ... the only possible way they could transfer value is if they fork it taking current owners... so we just own any possible EOS chain.

and cant any coin be copied? EOS is the gem.

Right now, I see it as a time similar to right after the American revolution. Banks at the time simply printed their own money. It was a legit way for a community to buy/sell things, but hazardous as anyone could do it. Over time these currencies stabilized around trustworthy entities that provided value. I foresee the same with cryptocurrency. Those which add value through innovation adoption will remain, while the copycats get-rich-quick 'coin of the day' that has no real plan or market traction will fade quickly.

Platform coins are the way to go and can do a possible 100x over a 5 year period. EOS has a strong community and can possibly show that type of return.
