My first time....

Today was such a blast..

We flipped the coin and we turned left. Here we go. Through our closest town and onto the highway, "Ballito here we come"
Cruising at about 160km/h I am holding on for dear life. This is my first time on the back of a bike with someone other that my father.
The turns are what freaked me out the most. Can you believe that when the driver goes around a corner, and leans in like those super bikes on TV do, you have to lean with them?! The road just got closer and closer to my knee!
But we made it through the bumps and turns.

We had a lovely late breakfast at a little restaurant called Hops. This is on Ballito's beach front. It's great when you can play and work at the same time. This morning's green candle paid for our little afternoon trip. (Thank you Crypto)

Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious.
On the way back we stopped at another little place in Umglanga just to have a quick cool down. There were a few other bikers and it felt like we were part of a community.

Speaking of feeling like a community, we past so many bikers on the road and almost all of them would greet us. Nodding heads or quickly waving. It is so nice to be part of something, without actually being a part of it.

The BMW GS Adventure goes like a dream. It is a very big bike, but it is very smooth on the road. Steady on turns. Comfortable front and back seats. No chain issues as the bike is shaft driven. Tar road test: Passed!

Things I learnt today:

• When sitting on the back of a bike, DO NOT make any big movements!
• When the driver leans, you lean too.
• Don't tense up while sitting back there, your muscles will never be the same.
• Try and lift your bum just a little when going over a speed hump.
• According to our top box, it is okay to go 180km/h, so don't panick ;)
• DO NOT wear open shoes! or shorts.

Suggested:

• If you are trying to get your girlfriend/fiance/wife into this, get a bluetooth communication set, so that you guys can communicate with one another. Totally worth the extra bucks.
• The red flashing light along with a warning "LAMPF" means that your front light if not working properly (Yes, we stood there for a few minutes unsure about what to do next)

I am even more amped about next week after this little trip. It wasn't much, but was definitely one for the memoirs.
