in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Hello folks,

I have written an easy step by step tutorial for users to claim their free stellar from the current distribution beginning 27th June using Mycelium Bitcoin wallet.

1.  Go to https://www.stellar.org/lumens/bitcoin-lumen-program/

2. Click on " Claim using a Bitcoin Wallet"

3.  Authenticate using your facebook. [Facebook authentication is required]

4.  Create your Stellar account if you don't have one. Or you can use your existing one.

5.  Once you do that, you need to enter your BTC wallet address where you hold your Bitcoins and which has the functionality to "SIGN MESSAGE"

a. Open your Mycelium Bitcoin wallet, Click on accounts and click the symbol on right upper corner as shown in img b

b. Once you click on sign msgs, it will you the addresses. You have to select which address holds your btc

c. Now copy and paste that address on the stellar claim page. [as shown in earlier img]

d. Once you paste your BTC addr. Stellar will give you a message to verify your BTC address. Copy this message and head over to your Mycelium Wallet

e. Click on the BTC address which you earlier copied so you can sign the verification message given by Stellar.

f. Copy and paste the verification message from Stellar to prove

g. Mycelium in return will give you a signature which you have to copy and paste on Stellar Claim page

h. Copy the above generated signature & paste on Stellar claim page and you will get your Stellar Lumens!!

6.  You can now check your balance using any of the Stellar wallets

https://www.stellar.org/about/directory#wallets

Participating exchanges (we’ll update this list as exchanges contact us):

Wallets supporting SIGN messages functionality

Most bitcoin wallets support this, including:

  • Bitcoind
  • Bitcoin-qt
  • Electrum
  • Mycelium
  • Trezor
  • Nano

NOTE

1. Stellar distribution snapshot has already been taken so if you missed it, you can't participate now.

2. Some exchanges also participated in this distribution, check the list of exchanges. If you held bitcoins on these exchanges, you will get your Lumens

3. If you have BTC in multiple addresses, you can use each address to claim your addresses using the steps listed above.

4. XRP holders can claim lumens too provided you fulfill the criteria.

5. Stellar distribution ends on 27th August 2017.

Great advice, straight to the point and easy to understand :) Would you happen to know how to generate a signature with private key from a bitaddress.org paper wallet? I've tried searching the internet for answers but haven't found any so far.
