They are afraid of bitshares.
Its a decentralized exchange for decentralized coins
and not a centralised exchange for decentralized coins. ( :D)
Its getting stronger and stronger day for day.
Have more transaction per day than ethereum and bitcoin combined.
Its faster and have a higher security.
Lots of big exchange's like poloniex and co get hacked in the past, but not bitshares.
It will be the future.
We must say thank you to bittrex, that we have the chance now to buy it very cheap.

I agree with you. That's seem so far the reason. If there was any technical issue or any other they would have simply informed the developers. But in this case the Tweet clearly say's that Bittrex refused to comment on the reason. So, it seems fishy to me.
DEX are the next big thing.
