Coin Map
This is a brief report on a webpage based interface where you can go and find retailers, restaurants and other businesses which accept cryptocurrency near you or in a geographic location, which you pick. I invite you to try and determine what major restaurant, grocery stores, clothing stores and other facilities in your area. If you can find ten locations to purchase everyday things in your city using this API and put them in a comment that would be terrific. It would so terrific that the 20 twenty replies will win 0.5 Steem!

Coin Map is a webpage based API where you can go and find retailers, restaurants and other businesses which accept cryptocurrency near you or in a geographic location, which you pick. The API is licensed under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL) by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF). You are free to copy, distribute, transmit and adapt our data, as long as you credit Coin Map and its contributors. CoinMap was created to connect Bitcoin owners with shops and/or service providers who have added Bitcoin as an option in their payment systems. CoinMap works like Google Maps, but instead of buildings and other landmarks it focuses on businesses which accept Bitcoin payments. Incidentally, the majority of the locations on the CoinMap are added by users who have encountered businesses which accept Bitcoin and the listings come with short reports of their personal experiences and recommendations. Business owners who accept Bitcoin payments are also allowed to add their locations to the map as a way of marketing themselves.

CoinMap.org is becoming more and more popular, and at the moment has a global Alexa rank of around 160,000. It’s mainly visited by people from the US, Germany, Spain, France and Belgium as well as other countries.<

CoinMap says there are over 9000 retailers listed in the CoinMap

CoinMap has three features:

Search tool – Users can now key in specific locations and get details on available Bitcoin shops in the locality. The feature also allows you to search for businesses by category, such as food and beverages, schools etc.

Reviews – Users can share their experiences with listed businesses with the world and even give ratings.

Like button – Just like social networks, the site now gives you the option of ‘liking’ a business. Businesses you like appear on top of the page as bookmarks and can assist you to locate other Bitcoin shops in and around the same area.
